Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans who can study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to 50 Scholars are selected each year to study at the graduate level at a UK institution in any field of study. As future leaders with a lasting understanding of British society, Marshall Scholars strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and their governments, the American people, and their institutions. Their direct engagement with Britain through its best academic programs contributes to their ultimate personal success.
Eligibility: Open only to United States citizens who (at the time they take up their Scholarship) hold a first degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in the United States with a minimum GPA of 3.7.
Value: University fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States, and, where applicable, a contribution towards the support of a dependent spouse.

On March 5 1946, Winston Churchill stood in Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and delivered the now famous “Sinews of Peace” speech, which brought phrases including ‘the special relationship between Britain and America’ into general use.
It is this special relationship that Marshall Scholarships have helped to build and maintain. Since 1953, Marshall Scholarships have brought more than 2,000 young Americans to study at universities in the UK, funded mainly by the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
