Honors Passport Assistance Scholarship

The Honors College offers $100 Passport Scholarships to 25 students per year. This brings the student’s passport cost to approximately $75.

Limited slots are available for passport scholarships. Students will be selected through an application process (see link to form below). Students must have at least a 3.25 GPA, be considered “on track” for their honors requirements, and fill out the application to be considered.

The preferential consideration deadline for the 2024/2025 academic year is November 1, 2024. Applications will still be reviewed after the preferential deadline if the maximum number of scholarships has not yet been awarded for the academic year.

A passport is one of the first steps in a journey abroad. We encourage all qualified students to apply. If you have questions, please get in touch with your honors advisor.

Steps to apply for your passport and to request reimbursement for scholarship purposes

• Apply for a passport on campus at the MTSU Passport Office 
• OR visit your local passport office where you will apply and pay for your passport.
  

YOU MUST SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT for all passport offices.

If you are approved for a passport scholarship:

1. MAKE SURE TO REQUEST A RECEIPT AS THIS IS NEEDED FOR REIMBURSEMENT (if you do not have/get a receipt, please email uhc@mtsu.edu for further help)

2. Bring your passport receipt of payment to the Honors Dean’s Suite in HONR 205
3. Originals will be submitted to us, so please make a copy of your receipts before submitting them to our office.
4. Honors will process your $100 reimbursement
5. The reimbursement will be applied to your MTSU account
6. If receipts aren’t submitted by the end of the academic year (May), you forfeit your scholarship and must reapply.
