USA TODAY previously sought outstanding juniors and seniors for its annual All-USA College Academic Teams. The organization awarded trophies and $2,500 cash prizes to the 20 students named to the 1st team and featured them in USA TODAY as representatives of all outstanding undergraduates. Additionally, USA TODAY named forty more students to the 2nd and 3rd teams, published their names in the paper, and gave them certificates.
